It’s Time to Find The Puffins!
It’s been two weeks and it’s time to go. We had a great time, we saw lots of rocks, we enjoyed the sights, including the friendships, some great music and interesting meals. we took some wonderful photographs. But it has to end and it does so today.
BUT, before we leave there’s time for one last venture out into the hills of Shetland to find……Puffins! And did we ever find them. A trip to the Sumburgh Head Light House was all we needed to do to see a gazillion puffins.
And several old-friend Puffins! There were many little cliques, families and friends, a very social group, those puffins. And they love the sunshine as well as the water, since that’s where they hunt for food. Interestingly, in Iceland there are far fewer Puffins than in Scotland. What’s so nice about these little birds is that they are friendly and social, not afraid of people and don’t seem to bother anyone. As long as you don’t try and catch them. In Iceland they eat them. I tasted Puffin once and it was not a flavor I would enjoy a second time.
Next stop, the airport to start my journey home. I used to think of my trips back home as the worst part of the journey because I can be so impatient, but I have so much to think about this time of my life, I have so many blessings to count and so many wonderful things I get to do, I am a very happy guy today. And, I am happy to be headed home with a lot of memory cards filled with some wonderful images that I wll be sharing with you!
It took 19 years to get back to Scotland after my first trip, I am hoping it doesn’t take 19 years to get back there again.
